Terms of use

The license

When you buy Sayburst, you get a perpetual, non-transferable license to use Sayburst 1.x on the number of Macs your plan allows (Solo: one; Personal: up to three) at the same time, for yourself. You can move it between your Macs by deactivating one and activating another.

Trial

You can use every feature free for 7 days on each Mac. After the trial, new dictations need a license. Your existing history, notes and exports stay available.

Updates

Your license includes all 1.x updates we release. A future major version (2.0 or later) may be sold separately; your 1.x version keeps working.

Activation and license checks

Activating a license and a periodic license check (about weekly) require an internet connection. If Sayburst can't reach our servers, a valid license keeps working for up to 60 days. We may deactivate licenses that were refunded, charged back, or obtained fraudulently, or that are shared beyond their Mac limit.

Speech models and third-party services

Speech models are provided by third parties under their own licenses (listed in the app and on our models page). If you connect a writing provider (such as OpenAI or Anthropic), your use of that service is governed by its terms, and you're responsible for any charges it bills you.

Acceptable use

Don't reverse engineer the licensing system, redistribute Sayburst, or use it to break the law. You're responsible for the text you produce and where you insert it.

No warranty

Speech recognition makes mistakes. Review dictated text before you send it. Sayburst is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. Our total liability for any claim relating to Sayburst is limited to the amount you paid for it.
