Wispr Flow is one of the most popular dictation apps, and it's priced like most AI software: a monthly subscription. Here's what each plan costs, how far the free tier goes, and what it adds up to. Prices from wisprflow.ai/pricing, checked October 11, 2026.

How far do 2,000 words a week go?

Not far if dictation becomes a habit. 2,000 words is about 15 minutes of talking a week, roughly a few emails a day. Most people who keep using Wispr Flow end up on Pro, which is the point of the free tier.

What it costs over time

Subscriptions are easy to underestimate. Here's Pro on yearly billing, the cheaper option, against a one-time license:

Wispr Flow Pro (yearly)Sayburst
Year 1$144$29
Year 2$288$29
Year 3$432$29
Three Macs, year 1$144 (one account)$49

On monthly billing, Wispr Flow Pro is $180 a year.

What the price includes

Wispr Flow's subscription pays for cloud processing: transcription always happens on Wispr's servers, according to its own data controls page. That's what enables Windows, iOS and Android apps and its AI formatting, and it's why it needs an account and an internet connection.

Sayburst takes the other route. Speech is transcribed on your Mac by Parakeet or Whisper, so there's no server to pay for, and the price is once. Cleanup modes for email, messages and notes are built in, and optional AI polish can run on your own Mac through Ollama or LM Studio.

Should you pay for Wispr Flow?

  • Yes if you dictate on Windows or your phone as much as on your Mac, or your company needs its compliance certifications.
  • Probably not if you work on a Mac and would rather pay once, keep your voice on your machine, or dictate without Wi-Fi.

Our take

Wispr Flow is a good product with a subscription price. If you're on a Mac, Sayburst does the daily hold-and-talk job for $29 once, less than three months of Wispr Pro. See the full comparison or other Wispr Flow alternatives.
